This picture, like so many of my favorites, started off as a neat idea and ended as a complete (but still awesome) pain in the ass. ThinkGeek.com asked fans to send in interesting postcards so they could use them to decorate a bare, lonely wall in their headquarters. Having no interesting postcards, nor any idea of where to get any, I asked via Twitter if I could draw one myself. The reply was swift and enthusiastic. My endeavors were enthusiastic but not quite as swift.
I actually was going to wait until they got my postcard in the mail before posting this online, but I'm all out of yellow ink and the stores are closed for the next several days. I MUST VENT. This whole crazy shindig has been very, very fun and worth it for me, though, for a)inspiring me to try art on a scale I've never attempted before, and b)forcing me to FINALLY learn how to use the BLASTED FRAKKING GORRAMN PEN TOOL SO HA.
All the art is inspired by items and logos from Thinkgeek, general obligatory nerd things, and the Fruity Oaty Bar commercial from Serenity. Go browse the site and see if you can spot all the items I referenced!
Critique is ♥ but not necessary.

Oh CRUD I haven't mailed that out yet. Ehehehwherearemystampsshitshit.
But yes, I tried to cram in as much nerdiness as possible. I actually didn't make the Gnu connection - it's originally intended to be a zombie tauntaun (since ThinkGeek sells tauntaun sleeping bags now), but if I accidentally scored more nerd points with a Gnu/Star Wars visual double entendre, so much the better!
D'aww, thanks! I'd love to do a text editing piece, but other than one past job fixing the kerning and spacing for an entire book (and being forever cursed to flinch whenever I see a one-word line at the end of a paragraph), I don't actually know that much about it.
Yeah, the Starfleet-issued sporks are great! I didn't include the text that comes on 'em because I thought it would be too distracting (even for this piece) .
The pen tool is great now that I actually understand how it works. I foresee much cleaner lineart in my future.

Giant Squid do have the largest eyes of the animal kingdom. So by that logic they DO deserve sparkly, My Little Pony-styled eyes. ^.^
I know sporks have a bit of a cult status, but not a geek one.

And squids are ♥.
